                                                 Finance Officer

As soon as possible start

36 hours per 5-day week (would consider FTE 0.8/4 days)

52 weeks per year

NJC (Outer London) Scale 5 Pt 12-15 - £30,033 - £31,440

We are seeking to appoint an experienced can-do Finance Officer who will have responsibility for the efficient and secure administration of the Academies finances on a day-to-day basis, reporting to and in liaison with the Finance Manager.  Previous experience of Academy finance would be advantageous but is not essential. 

The Academy uses Access Dimension financial software, training will be provided.  The Academy’s financial year runs from 1st September – 31st August, it is therefore expected that the post holder will be available to work during the summer holidays, particularly in August and October, exact dates to be negotiated and agreed with the Finance Manager. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To assist in managing the financial accounting day-to-day tasks of the Finance Office ensuring an efficient and effective customer focussed approach
  • Acting as a liaison point for enquiries, developing links with curriculum and business support areas
  • To manage credit control, purchase ledger control and cash and banking, ensuring that at all times customers and suppliers are dealt with in a customer friendly manner
  • To be responsible for ensuring that all invoices are coded accurately
  • To maintain a strong control environment, ensuring accounting records are complete and accurate
  • To be responsible timely reconciliations of credit card and petty cash.

Applicants will need to demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail as well as use their excellent communication skills and their ability to build good working relationships.  The successful candidate will have excellent communication, a flexible approach to working as part of a team as well as the ability to be able to work on his or her own initiative in a professional manner and have excellent attention to detail.
