Internal Communications Officer
Fixed term contract for 6 months
Croydon or Sittingbourne, Kent
We have a fantastic opportunity for an Internal Communications Officer to join our Communications Team. You’ll be the point of contact for all internal communication activities and develop and manage communication tools such as the intranet, email bulletins, internal newsletter and Yammer.
You’ll share daily news stories via our staff intranet and co-ordinate central messaging to ensure information is accurate, engaging and up to date. You’ll build strong relationships with our People Team and other internal stakeholders to create engaging content to inform and support our culture and messaging and support the development of Optivo’s employee brand from recruitment and on-boarding through to induction and ongoing training.
You’ll explore and develop innovative ways to communicate with staff, including interactive dynamic media like video, polls, surveys, chat bots, blogs, vlogs and social media. You’ll also assist with planning and promotion of internal and external corporate events including roadshows, key openings and staff conferences. All the while, you’ll reinforce our reputation as an inclusive organisation by creating communications that represent our diverse workforce.
You’ll deliver excellent and creative communications through research, writing, editing and proof reading and you’ll also have the opportunity to provide expert advice and guidance to staff at all levels in relation to Optivo’s writing style and tone.
This is an exciting opportunity for you to join a growing, customer and colleague focussed organisation as we prepare for our forthcoming merger with Southern Housing Group, planned for January 2023.
This position is offered on a fixed term contract for 6 months and you can be based from either our Croydon or Sittingbourne office. We can offer a hybrid working arrangement allowing you to split your time between working from the office and from home, you'll be expected to work from the office for at least 1 day a week, but to be flexible and able to work from the office more frequently as required.
What you’ll need
You’ll hold a degree or equivalent qualification in communications, marketing, journalism, PR or digital communications and have proven experience in a communications environment and the ability to write and edit for a range of audiences and channels. An understanding of the social housing sector would also be desirable.
You’ll have excellent knowledge of internal and digital communications channels including Sharepoint and an understanding of how to create content for internal social media and intranets.
You’ll understand how to set up tracking and evaluation reports on campaigns and communication activities including KPIs and trend analysis. You’ll use analytical data to shape the content that will engage internal audiences. You must have exceptional written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
