The role

HS2 is a key priority for Camden Council due to the unprecedented and significant impacts on the Borough.  As construction ramps up, we are moving into a new phase of work and are creating new models of community participation in the local area. The focus of our work is to ensure that our Camden 2025 vision is upheld in areas affected by HS2, despite the negative and counter-productive effects of construction.

We are looking for an experienced community engagement professional who is able to support communities dealing with disruptive and distressful impacts of construction. This is a fast paced, high profile role that requires an individual who is able to build strong relationships with our community groups in order to support their needs.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right person.

About you

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and will be able to communicate confidently and empathetically with a wide range of groups including residents, businesses, elected members, senior leaders and other stakeholders.

The right individual will be able to clearly demonstrate skills, knowledge and the experience set out in the job profile. However, you will have excellent customer care standards and an understanding of the role of local government in supporting residents and businesses. You will have keen political awareness and will have experience of working with publicly elected representatives or equivalent roles. You will also have experience in organising, managing and coordinating cross-service projects that lead to successful outcomes.

This will be coupled with strong analytical skills, ability to resolve issues at pace, ability to motivate and enable people through collaborative working, good working knowledge of the HS2 scheme, knowledge of key partnership organisations and the understanding of current public policy issues are all very important requirements of this role.
