The role
We’re looking for a passionate and motivated Planning Officer to join our dynamic and forward-thinking Development Management team. In this role, you’ll manage and assess a wide range of planning applications and requests for pre-application advice. You’ll also play a key role in negotiating planning obligations and there will be opportunities to get involved in delivering projects that support Camden’s digital strategy and our ambition to tackle the climate crisis.
You’ll be handling casework from pre-application stage to the final decision on applications , including negotiating planning performance agreements and appeals when required, while ensuring your work reflects the Council’s priorities and delivers high-quality outcomes for residents and the built environment.
About you
You’ll have a degree or equivalent qualification in Town Planning (or be working towards one) and be eligible for membership of the RTPI. You’ll bring experience in development management, preferably in a local authority setting, with a sound understanding of planning legislation at local, regional, and national levels.
You’ll be an excellent communicator, confident working with a range of stakeholders(DEL: — :DEL) from residents and councillors to developers, skilled at negotiation, problem-solving, and ensuring high-quality results. You’ll also be enthusiastic about using digital tools and innovative approaches to improve planning services and outcomes for Camden’s communities.
