The Post

The Access and Information Team is the initial contact point for residents seeking assistance from Brent’s Adult Social Care services. Comprised of Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, and dedicated unqualified staff the team works collaboratively to ensure that every enquiry is handled with professionalism, empathy, and efficiency. 

We are seeking to appoint an Advanced Practitioner (Occupational Therapist) to join Brent’s Access and Information Team, reflecting Brent Council’s dedication to innovation and excellence. This role is ideally suited to an experienced Occupational Therapist with extensive experience of working with adults with physical disabilities and older people. 

The successful applicant will provide specialist advice, guidance, and supervision to OT Assistants, ensuring high standards of professional practice within the team. Alongside supporting colleagues, the Advanced Practitioner will also deliver direct OT assessments in residents’ homes, contributing to Brent’s mission of empowering individuals to live independently and enhancing quality of life across the borough’s diverse communities.

The Person

To be considered for this role, you should possess a recognised degree in Occupational Therapy and maintain current registration with the Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC). Proven experience in Adult Social Care is essential, particularly a background in assessing and enabling independence within a diverse community setting and familiarity with the provision and management of community equipment is highly desirable, as is an ability to navigate complex care systems and deliver tailored solutions under pressure.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to positive outcomes. You should be able to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams, communicate empathetically with customer s, carers, and professionals, and balance competing priorities to deliver holistic support. 

Experience working in varied community settings and a genuine passion for promoting wellbeing, maximising independence, and empowering individuals of all backgrounds is central to success in this role.
