Hackney Council is looking for a Policy & Employee Relations / Change Consultant (Workforce Transformation Programme) to join our team in the Chief Executive Directorate. As a Change Consultant, you will deliver a professional Human Resources Advisory and Policy service to a range of customers. You will be an expert, providing specialist ER advice and guidance to management, enabling them to take informed action in the management of their staff.

Key Responsibilities Include:
Policy & Projects: Work collaboratively across the HR function to deliver HR-wide strategic projects and continuously review and improve people management policy and procedures.
Expert Advice: Act as a lead consultant providing consistent, expert advice on employee relations matters (including grievance, disciplinary, absence management, and performance) and change management (including TUPE and Redundancy)
Consultancy: Advise management in undertaking formal processes, including liaison with Trade Unions and supporting managers in the presentation of cases at hearings or tribunals.
Equality and Diversity: Ensure Equality, diversity, inclusion and belonging are embedded in all advice, guidance, and decision making.
What You'll Bring
We are looking for someone with proven experience and knowledge, with the ability to work flexibly to meet demand.
You will have:
Experience in advising and supporting managers through change processes and a wide range of operational HR and employee relations matters.
Strong knowledge and understanding of current employment legislation and policies and procedures, translating this into practical, solution-focused advice.
An understanding of Local Government / Public Sector terms and conditions and experience in working with trade unions in a highly unionised environment is desired.
The ability to build and maintain strong collaborative working relationships with management at all levels.
While no mandatory qualifications are required, you should have good generalist HR and/or employee law knowledge, which may be evidenced by being a Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) or equivalent.
