Lead Croydon’s Temporary Accommodation service and help deliver safe, secure homes for families in need.
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Temporary Accommodation Placement Manager to lead Croydon’s placement and income collection functions. This role is at the heart of our Housing Needs service, ensuring households in crisis are placed swiftly into safe, suitable accommodation while achieving best use of resources and value for money.
About the role
- Lead and manage the Temporary Accommodation Placement Team and Accommodation Income Team.
- Oversee the allocation and management of temporary accommodation, ensuring properties are compliant, safe, and let in line with policy.
- Take the lead on contracts with accommodation providers, monitoring standards and driving improvements.
- Work closely with the Procurement Manager to ensure properties are of good quality and meet demand.
- Oversee the income collection function, achieving and exceeding collection targets.
- Manage budgets and contracts (up to £8m), ensuring financial controls and value for money.
About you
- Extensive knowledge of homelessness law, housing legislation, landlord and tenant law, and welfare reform.
- Proven experience of managing temporary accommodation services, contracts, and budgets in a high-pressure environment.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop multi-disciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills with senior stakeholders, landlords, and partner agencies.
- Ability to analyse complex information, develop strategies, and deliver service improvements.
- A commitment to fairness, inclusion, and high-quality customer service.
