Housing Caseworker
Are you passionate about making a difference in the community? Join our dynamic Housing Advisory Service team as a Housing Caseworker. You will play a crucial role in providing support, guidance, and advice to households seeking assistance. This role involves working across different locations to meet the needs of the service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality housing options, advice, and homeless prevention casework in line with the Housing Act 1996 (as amended).
- Support households through applications under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996, including attending court to assist with possession proceedings.
- Make informed decisions in line with statutory duties and provide support under Section 17 of the Children Act 1989 when necessary.
- Conduct home visits to confirm homelessness, inspect housing conditions, and verify household circumstances.
- Liaise with Property and Procurement to secure accommodation and recommend access to other accommodation schemes.
- Interpret and explain complex legal matters to tenants, landlords, and other interested parties.
- Provide advocacy for applicants in court and support around claiming benefits.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience in handling homelessness applications and making decisions in accordance with the Housing Act 1996.
- Strong case management skills with the ability to plan, prioritise, and communicate effectively with customers.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to handle complex enquiries and complaints tactfully.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in using IT databases to manage information effectively.
