The role of the Directorate Support Assistant will be to provide general technical administrative support to the Neighbourhoods & Environmental Service (NES) Director and Heads of Service, working closely with the Management Team to support the execution of the council agenda, whilst working as part of a team, with a wide-ranging role in supporting frontline services.  

 

NES is part of the Place, Communities & Enterprise Directorate dealing with a wide range of the Councils frontline services within Neighbourhood Street Scene, Fleet Assets & Transport, Highways and Parking.

 

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience of dealing with the public and liaising with senior figures in an organisation, in challenging situations and in a pressurised environment, in a professional manner.
  • Ability to use the Microsoft office suite, emails, and databases to an intermediate standard with generally good ability to learn and use new business software products.
  • The ability to find solutions to difficult concerns and complaints enquiries on your own initiative.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Planning and organising skills
  • Understanding of GDPR, confidentiality, safeguarding and diversity
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • A ‘can do’ attitude and problem-solving orientation and understanding the importance of a timely resolution.
  • Proven ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Evidence of ongoing personal and professional development and commitment of continuous improvement.

 

We are seeking someone with either some relevant experience in this area of work or an interest in developing their skills in this area of work. You will need good IT skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as excellent people skills.
