Technical Standards Co-Ordinator

Are you ready to play an important role in providing technical expertise and advice to the Asset Management Team ensuring the highest quality repairs & improvements are delivered across one of Londons most ambitious and diverse boroughs?
Redbridge Council is looking to recruit a Technical Standards Coordinator who will support the Asset Manager in the delivery of the Asset Management Strategy ensuring that all technical standards support the delivery of the Decent Homes Standard and improvement programmes and deliver value for money.
About the Role:
As Technical Standards Coordinator you will lead on developing specifications, setting the standard regards energy efficiency and mechanisms to achieve the required standards set in all Council homes.
You will also analyse data to identify trends impacting on repairs and maintenance budgets and propose improvements to materials & specifications, ensuring projects are delivered to specification and tenants satisfaction.
Overview of the role:
- Effectively collaborate internal colleagues & contractors, to develop specifications, providing advice, expertise, problem-solving, and ensuring accurate and timely information to safeguard smooth technical delivery.
- Analyse data to identify trends and root causes for repairs issues, propose specification improvements to address.
- Agree specifications through consultation with in-house teams.
- Work with the stakeholders to specify the letting standards for all homes and ensure these are met through within the allocations process.
- Work across the service to promote quality build and high-quality standards, including the promotion of high-quality customer service to all customers.
- Consult with and act on feedback from tenants & leaseholders in relation to the products used in their home.
- Support the Asset Manager in their role as the council&©s advisory lead, providing advice and expertise.
- Audit installation of products and seek feedback from contractors, tenants and leaseholders.
- Support the preparation of programmes of responsive, cyclical and planned investment and improvement works ensuring all specifications are fit for purpose and provide value for money.
- Respond to and process customer enquiries and complaints from a range of different contacts.
- Collation and provision of performance management information including a variety of statistical information in line with the requirements of the team and other corporate requirements, identifying opportunities for continuous improvements
- Ensure quality of products used in LBR social housing stock.
- Assist in ensuring mandatory compliance & Regulatory requirements are met across the stock.
- Support the Sustainability Co-ordinator in identifying suitable components and products to meet energy efficiency agenda.
- You will lead on updating property specifications, including setting the standard with regards to energy efficiency and assistive technology.
About You
- A relevant qualification in Building Surveying, Construction, Civil/Structural Engineering or another building related subject.
- Experienced technical professional with the ability and to develop specifications for Capital Programme works.
- Experience of auditing completed works to ensure components installed to the required standards.
- Experience of analysing data and identifying trends, root causes etc. and proposing improvements to resolve.
- Experience of involving tenants and leaseholders in developing specifications and standards.
- Experience of achieving performance indicators.
- Previous experience in a local authority or public sector setting.
- The ability to communicate effectively and positively with colleagues, Members, Contractors, partners and residents
- To actively contribute towards the effective and efficient provision of quality services in response to enquiries from both the public and service departments.
- Involve tenants & leaseholders in the development of specifications and standards.
