Are you ready to play an important role in supporting the development of funding bids, and delivery of energy efficiency and sustainability programmes across one of London&©s most ambitious and diverse boroughs?

Redbridge Council is looking to recruit a Sustainability Coordinator who will play a pivotal role in supporting the Asset Management Team to ensure the Council have accurate and up to data on all of its social housing assets.

About the Role:

As Sustainability Coordinator you will lead on sustainability initiatives, securing external funding through successful bid applications, and promoting environmentally sustainable practices to help achieve the councils net-zero targets.

You will provide support to colleagues & stakeholders providing an excellent Service to residents.

Overview of the role:

  • Lead on the development and submission of funding bids to secure resources for energy efficiency and sustainability projects.
  • Coordinate the delivery of energy improvement programmes and ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required standards.
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments, external stakeholders, and funding bodies to identify and deliver sustainability initiatives.
  • Monitor the performance of sustainability projects and produce detailed reports on outcomes, energy savings, and environmental impact, highlighting risks or issues promptly.
  • Promote sustainability awareness and engagement among residents, businesses, and council staff.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant environmental legislation, policies, and funding requirements.
  • Research and stay up to date on innovative energy solutions and best practices for local government sustainability.
  • Support the development and implementation of the boroughs sustainability strategy and climate action plans.
  • Act as the main point of contact for all tenants, leaseholders and customers, build strong relationships with contractors and internal teams, and attend meetings to discuss projects.
  • Carrying out eligibility assessments
  • Processing applications and making referrals to delivery partner
  • Processing grant funding and co-ordinating supplier invoices
  • Working closely with stakeholders including the delivery partner company.
  • Assisting with website and communications/promotions.
  • Maintain accurate records relating to all improvements and funding, ensuring all relevant systems are updated.

About You

  • Minimum of 5 GCSE&©s or NVQ level 2
  • Evidence of continued professional development in sustainability or project management.
  • Proven experience in developing and delivering sustainability or energy-related programmes with a strong track record in writing successful funding bids and securing external resources.
  • Experience working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders on environmental projects.
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce clear reports and presentations.
  • Knowledge of environmental legislation, funding frameworks, and energy efficiency technologies.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy systems, carbon reduction strategies, or climate adaptation projects.
  • Familiarity with community engagement or behavioural change initiatives related to sustainability.
  • Ability and experience in preparing regular statistical and written summary reports and KPI&©s for managers and senior managers on progress and problems against targets and objectives.
  • Experience of achieving performance indicators.
  • Advanced ITC skills including use of databases, reporting, and use of bespoke models and tools.
  • Experience of working in a customer focused environment.
  • Proven ability to work methodically, follow agreed
  • procedures and accurately record data and information.
