Join our Quality Improvement Team and play a key role in supporting the delivery of good and outstanding care across Essex. This is your opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of people in our communities.
This role is offered as a Fixed Term Contract until 31st March 2026. As an 'Anywhere Worker' position, the role will involve a combination of remote and office based working. There will be an expectation for you to attend the office based at Rowan House, Colchester approximately 1-2 days per week in addition to 'as and when' there is a business need. There may also be a requirement to attend other Essex County Council offices during the fixed term contract.
The Role:
The role of a Quality Improvement Officer centres on development and implementation of the council's strategy for enhancing the quality of the Adult Social Care market in Essex. The role will involve working with Residential Care homes to implement the Provider Quality Innovation teams programme of initiatives which aim to improve the quality of services through support, guidance and training.
Key Responsibilities:
Key responsibility of the role will be to support care homes to implement the Provider Quality teams PROSPER project which uses quality improvement methodology in the prevention of harm and continuous improvement.
- Responsible for completing comprehensive support visit reports and monthly data dashboards.
- Responsible for providing consultancy services to the Social Care market on how to improve the quality of their services to improve customer outcomes and experiences - this will include face to face site visits, training events and workshops.
- Working collaboratively with partners and stakeholders to maximise potential opportunities for quality improvement; through the development of innovative approaches to service delivery to deliver greater choice to adults.
- Responsible for identifying and challenging care delivery which falls below standards set, providing support to improve the quality-of-service provision.
- Provide expert advice and support to providers.
- Utilise opportunities to identify best practice opportunities to learn lessons from others and build professional knowledge and expertise to maximise the value of relevant networks and influence service improvements through acquired learning.
- Ensure successful delivery of day-to-day activities and develop skills within the quality function.
- Identify patterns and trends in care delivery and share intelligence with People Commissioning to inform shape and influence future thinking and commissioning intent.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Educated to A Level equivalent or equivalent experience with evidence of continuing professional development.
- Recent experience working with social care settings, preferably Residential Care homes, with evidence of ensuring quality and safety of service delivery.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to develop a rapport and engage with diverse groups of individuals along with the ability to develop good business relationships and influence others in presenting compelling arguments for change or improvement.
- Evidence a good understanding of quality standards, quality improvement methods, analysis, organisational development, and demonstrable practical application of these.
Please note that the job role requires you to be mobile throughout an operational area. Therefore, the post holder will need to have a driving licence and access to a vehicle, or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means.
