About the Role

Exciting opportunities have arisen in the Mental Health Enablement service which sits, within the Mental Health Adults Social Care Access Team in the London Borough of Newham (LBN) and we are looking to hire a Mental Health Support Worker on a fixed term contract for 12 month.

The candidate must have a minimum of two years’ experience in working with vulnerable people preferably people with enduring Mental Health problems.  We are looking for people who embrace change and are committed to help us shape our vision for Adult Mental Health Services, to focus on Recovery based, Strength Based approach, personalized and outcome focused approaches, in which our residents get an improved choice, greater control, and maximize their independence.  

Mental Health Enablement service, which is a preventative and recovery based service helping to develop and implement goals, whilst promoting independence for up to six months. It provides time specific interventions, offering support to individuals to meet their goals and objectives. Supporting people using a Strength based approach to enhance a person’s independence and promote well-being

About You

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated team member, who is happy to work autonomously in a busy and fast-paced team and has the ability to effectively prioritise. 

You will have undertaken statutory work as per the Care Act 2014 and have awareness of other pertinent legislation (Mental Health Act 1983 / 2007, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Human Rights Act 1998, Equalities Act 2010). Strong assessments skills are a must, always using a person-centred and strengths based approach with the ability to think creatively outside the box.

An understanding of the social determinants of mental health issues are key along with the complexities that may go with it including drug and alcohol issues, forensics issues, anti-social behaviour, and housing issues. 

We are seeking a support worker with the ability to engage the most vulnerable and hard to serve residents within one of the most diverse and disadvantaged boroughs in London. 

The successful post holder must be willing to work from the office, at home and see residents in hospital and the community, have a current DBS.
