We are looking to recruit Assessment officers to join our dynamic team and help make a positive impact in our community.

 

About the Roles:

 

The principal business of our high performing Benefits Service is the administration of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction, deciding all discretionary housing and hardship requests. In addition, the Service prides itself on its high-quality welfare benefit provision for those who are the most vulnerable in our community. This includes income maximisation through benefit take up, accessing discretionary funds and grants and signposting to many other local and national support schemes.

 

You will

  • Have proven experience in all aspects of the administration of Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction, related discretionary award schemes including strong knowledge of the relevant legislation and guidance that underpins them.
  • Have proven relatable experience in a welfare benefit advisory setting and associated case-work management, with an in-depth understanding of the welfare benefits system, sound knowledge of national and local initiatives as well as income maximisation and money management/debt advice.
  • Be required to provide outreach services to residents and stakeholders at various locations around the borough.
  • Be familiar with Benefit processing IT systems, customer portal functionality, document management and Housing systems.
  • Work accurately and quickly to meet high level performance targets and quality and assurance checks.
  • Prioritise workloads and meet competing
  • Work well independently, managing their own caseload, as well as working with others including team members, residents, and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Communicate clearly both verbally and in writing with the ability to adapt appropriate to the audience.
  • Take responsibility for their continuous professional development both within their role and the organisation&©s plans and visions.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of GDPR and DPA requirements and can apply these in daily practice.
