We do this by collaborating with citizens, organisations and across council services, building resilient and inclusive partnerships, proactively seeking opportunities and finding creative solutions to unlock benefits for Camden’s residents and communities.

The role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Area Regeneration Team at Camden.

We are looking for an experienced and versatile Principal Regeneration Officer

Initially the post holder will work on the Vacant Spaces Programme.  The work programme for this post includes the Hillgrove pilot project where funding has been secured to progress the design works from UK Shared Prosperity Fund with a deadline of March ’26 and the role will be responsible for commissioning RIBA stage 4 design works. The post holder will work with the resident design panel to develop the operational brief and designs for the site. The role will also support residents with the creation of a Community Interest Company.

The post holder is also expected to work of the Eagle Street pilot, where expressions of interest for occupiers of the vacant space are currently being sought. This post will be responsible for supporting on this and for writing an internal business case for the cross-funding model to unlock capital funding for the Hillgrove site which is a key priority for the service. 

The work programme also includes community and VCS engagement on the further sites in the vacant spaces programme including supporting the Food Mission leads with the creation of a food hub in the borough.

We welcome transferable skills and adaptability to work on other regeneration projects across the work Area Regeneration work programme, as required. The wider Area Regeneration programme currently includes: the Camden High Street Pedestrianisation Trial; Kentish Town Regis Road/ Camden Film Quarter; One Kilburn community partnership (Community Improvement District Pilot); Securing funding such as £7.7m of Levelling Up Funding for a Healthy and Connected Neighbourhood in Gospel Oak; The Neighbourhood and Vacant Spaces programmes- Activating vacant spaces through co-creation for community benefit. 

The post is offered as a fixed term position until September 2026. 


About you
We are looking for a pro-active Principal Regeneration Officer to be part of a dynamic team. 

You will be a self-starter with experience of regeneration projects from inception to delivery.  You must be comfortable working across a diverse range of disciplines and stakeholders to creatively problem solve and deliver projects on the ground.  

Experience of working with residents in an estate context along with local authority experience would be beneficial. Along with experience of brining vacant spaces back into use, an understanding of RIBA stages and capital delivery.

You will be a team player, who works well with others, building trust and galvanising support.  You will be an engaging communicator and able to report to a range of audiences including senior officers, boards and elected members, in both written and verbal form.

You will have project management skills and must be able to manage competing priorities to meet demanding deadlines.

Overall, you will have a passion for creating exceptional, sustainable places for communities and will need to have the same core values and level of ambition as set out in We Make Camden and the Way We Work.
