About us
Camden is building a place where everyone can thrive, by making our borough the best place to live, work, study and visit. We’re home to the most important conversations happening today and we’re making radical social change a reality, so that nobody gets left behind.

The area regeneration team plays a key role in bringing the We Make Camden Vision to life.  We deliver place-based regeneration projects that make a positive social, economic and environmental change for Camden’s Neighbourhoods. We do this by collaborating with citizens, organisations and across council services, building resilient and inclusive partnerships, proactively seeking opportunities and finding creative solutions to unlock benefits for Camden’s residents and communities.

The role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Area Regeneration Team at Camden.

We are looking for an experienced and versatile Area Regeneration Manager to work across the Area Regeneration Team’s diverse programmes.

Initially the successful candidate will take a leading role in supporting the Council’s regeneration programme for the Kentish Town Regis Road Growth Area. This involves working with landowners, stakeholders and local residents to unlock the creation of a new sustainable neighbourhood of up to 1,000 new homes, jobs, open spaces, community facilities and connections, anticipated to come forward as the Camden Film Quarter.

Current activity includes working with landowners and developers to coordinate a comprehensive approach to delivering a masterplan in-line with the vision and ambitions set out in the Kentish Town Planning Framework and Kentish Town Neighbourhood Plan; programming the reprovision of Council facilities and services; planning for delivery of strategic infrastructure; implementing the housing strategy and commitments for residents; engaging the community and stakeholders; preparing the Appropriation & CPO Strategy; and procuring and managing supporting consultancy services.

The role involves working in a strategic, political and complex setting, requiring leadership to support a multi-disciplinary approach to regeneration- working across council services, public sector organisations and with the multiple stakeholders.

The post come with line management responsibilities and as one of the team’s four Area Regeneration Managers you will be expected to be an inspiring and compassionate leader within the team.

As a manager you will lead by example to support and encourage diversity in all respects, including diversity of thinking within the workplace and in the delivery of our services to create a truly inclusive directorate.

The post holder will need transferable skills and adaptability to work on other regeneration projects across the work programme of the Area Regeneration Team, as required.

The wider Area Regeneration programme includes a variety of projects including: Camden Town Pedestrianisation Trial;); One Kilburn community partnership (Community Improvement District Pilot); Securing funding such as £7.7m of Levelling Up Funding for a Healthy and Connected Neighbourhood in Gospel Oak; The Neighbourhood and Vacant Spaces programmes- Activating vacant spaces through co-creation for community benefit.

About you
We are looking for a pro-active and dedicated Area Regeneration Manager to be part of a dynamic team.

You will be a self-starter with the experience to work independently on your own initiative, whilst being a supportive and collaborative team player.

You will have a track record for leading regeneration projects through from inception to delivery in a local authority context. Ideally you will have experience in areas such as land assembly, compulsory purchase, strategic infrastructure and working with developers and multi-disciplinary teams to unlock regeneration delivery.

You will need excellent project/ programme management skills and will demonstrate excellent team working, collaboration and partnership building skills.  You must be comfortable working with complexity, across a diverse range of disciplines and stakeholders to creatively problem solve and deliver projects on the ground.  You must be able to manage projects to meet demanding deadlines, lead others and galvanise support.  You will be an engaging communicator and able to report to senior officers, boards and members, in both written and verbal form and will demonstrate strong political awareness.

We are seeking a candidate who not only believes in our journey and approach but who has the passion and commitment to continue to move us forward in our ambition to be a place of innovation and impact for our citizens and communities.

Overall, you will have a passion for creating exceptional, sustainable places for communities and will need to have the same core values and level of ambition as set out in We Make Camden and the Way We Work.
