Our children in care are valued from their point of entering care aim to ensure that children grow up with their families and maintain long-term relationships with people who are important to them. Elizabeth’s journey in Hillingdon “I qualified as a Social Worker through the Step Up to Social Work programme in 2013, and Hillingdon was my host borough. I completed my final placement in the Looked After Children's team and once qualified, began working in the Child in Need and Child Protection teams. I was supported to complete my ASYE and consolidation module, as well as ABE training with the Metropolitan Police. I went on to complete my PEPS award to become a Practice Educator, and have enjoyed supporting social work students and newly qualified social workers. In 2016 I moved into the Court Team and the following year I was successful in my application to become an Advanced Practitioner. Later in 2017 there was an opportunity for progression to a Team Manager role and I am now a permanent Team Manager with the Court and Looked After Children's Service. I have just been appointed as a Head of Service for the Court and Specialist Services and looking forward to being a part of a team that will take Hillingdon to the next chapter of their journey to ‘Outstanding’. Children's Services in Hillingdon has evolved a lot and now is a really great time to be a part of the team. Hillingdon has invested in me and I have been supported to develop and progress.”
