We are seeking to appoint a passionate and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to lead and coordinate literacy provision across the school. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong understanding of how children learn to read and a commitment to raising literacy standards for all learners, including those with English as an additional language (EAL).

The successful candidate will:

  • Have expertise in phonics, spelling, and comprehension strategies
  • Demonstrate a love of reading and a sound understanding of the secondary English curriculum
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills and a deep appreciation of cultural diversity
  • Have recent experience in planning and delivering impactful literacy interventions

In addition to leading literacy provision, the postholder will:

  • Champion oracy across the school as our Voice 21 lead, embedding high-quality talk into teaching and learning
  • Work closely with the English Lead to support curriculum delivery and drive forward key initiatives in reading, writing, and oracy
  • Support the development of staff understanding of literacy and phonics through coaching and collaboration
  • Contribute to the school’s wider reading strategy, ensuring a broad and inclusive literacy offer for all pupils
