We are a nurturing and ambitious independent special school located in the heart of Handsworth, Birmingham, dedicated to supporting children and young people aged 7 - 16 with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and associated needs. Our school provides a safe, structured, and inclusive environment where every pupil is empowered to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

The Role:

We are seeking an inspirational and experienced Headteacher to lead our school into its next phase of growth and development. This is a unique opportunity to shape the strategic direction of a specialist provision and make a lasting impact on the lives of pupils with autism spectrum conditions and associated learning needs.

As Headteacher, you will:

  • Provide visionary leadership and uphold the school’s ethos of compassion, inclusion, and high expectations
  • Lead and develop a skilled multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement
  • Ensure the highest standards of teaching, learning, and safeguarding
  • Work closely with families, external professionals, and the wider community to support holistic outcomes for pupils
  • Drive innovation in curriculum design and therapeutic approaches tailored to ASC
  • Maintain compliance with independent school standards and regulatory frameworks (e.g. Ofsted, Independent School Standards, SEND Code of Practice)

About You:

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • A qualified teacher with substantial leadership experience in a special school or SEN setting
  • Passionate about inclusive education and experienced in working with children with ASC
  • A confident communicator and strategic thinker with a strong understanding of SEND legislation
  • Committed to building a positive, trauma-informed school culture
  • Skilled in managing resources, staff development, and school improvement planning
