About Camden
Camden is building a borough where everyone can thrive. We are home to bold ideas and radical social change, making sure no one gets left behind. As a Housing Needs Review & Improvement Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring fair and lawful housing decisions while improving services for our residents.
The Role
You will be responsible for investigating and determining statutory housing reviews under Parts 6 and 7 of the Housing Act 1996, ensuring timely and accurate decision-making. Working closely with legal teams, you will help defend legal challenges, prepare court documents, and attend hearings when necessary. You will also support Housing Services by responding to formal complaints, councillor and MP enquiries, and contributing to service improvements.
Beyond casework, you will identify trends, analyse data, and contribute to policy and procedural development to improve housing services. Training and advising colleagues on legislation and best practices will also be a key part of your role. Most importantly, you will ensure services are accessible, fair, and delivered with Camden’s commitment to equality and inclusion.
About You
We are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented individual with strong knowledge of housing legislation, administrative law, and Camden’s housing policies. You should have experience in casework, customer service, and working within political structures. Your ability to analyse complex information, communicate effectively, and handle legal proceedings will be key to success.
You are passionate about housing equality and believe that everyone deserves a safe and stable home. You work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners, using data and resident feedback to drive service improvements. A commitment to safeguarding, diversity, and social justice is essential.
