We have an exciting opportunity for two individuals to train as public sector CCAB qualified accountants, as part of our package we offer free training and day release.

In addition to a formal Charted Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) Level 7 Qualification, you will receive extensive on the job training as part of a small high-profile team involved in key projects that will make a real difference to the residents of Merton and whose work covers the majority of the syllabus you will be studying. Your work programme will provide you with the opportunity to develop your skills and build your experience for an assured future career.

The team is responsible for:

•             Development of the Medium-Term Financial Strategy, Capital Strategy and the Treasury Management Strategy Statement

•             Co-ordination, management and accounting for corporate funds

•             Compilation, governance and funding of the Authority’s capital programme

•             Responsible for financial asset management accounting (including leasing)

•             provide financial analysis and support for major schemes/projects

•             maintenance and development of financial systems

•             lead on risk management within the Authority

•             liaison with budget and service managers
