An excellent offer…

Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

This is a key leadership role responsible for managing the Single Homelessness Service, ensuring single people and childless couples at risk of homelessness receive expert advice, support, and access to sustainable housing solutions. You will lead the operational delivery of homelessness prevention, assessment, and relief services, ensuring compliance with statutory duties and legal frameworks. The role involves driving service improvements, managing budgets, overseeing casework quality, and shaping policies that enhance homelessness prevention and housing support. You will also work closely with internal and external partners, including the voluntary sector, to develop and implement effective strategies that reduce homelessness and improve long-term outcomes for vulnerable residents.

The Person

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic leader with extensive knowledge of homelessness legislation, prevention strategies, and appropriate pathways for single people. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of managing high-performing teams in homelessness services, implementing policy changes, and improving service delivery. They should be confident in handling complex legal cases, engaging with stakeholders at all levels, and driving innovation in homelessness prevention. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills are essential, along with the ability to influence and collaborate to achieve positive housing outcomes.
