ABOUT THE JOB

The post holder is responsible for providing effective administrative support for the SEND Tribunals, Mediations and Resolutions Team.

The ACO will be the first point of contact for the tribunal service, so will interact with appellants, families, schools and relevant officers. There will be a lot of stakeholder management involved and a helpful, patient attitude to work will be important to success in post.

An acute attention to detail and efficacy when compiling information will be a key part of the role, as the post holder will be responsible for securing, coordinating and submitting information (such as evidence documents and witness statements) on behalf of the local authority.

Candidates will need to meet the following (minimum) criteria in their application to be shortlisted:

  • Knowledge and experience of the work of a local authority SEND service, and the impact SEND has on children and families.
  • Strong administrative skills, proven by a work history in local authority administration and experience working to deadlines.
  • Good knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and the statutory processes.
  • Experience of working with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience of interacting with service users in a polite and courteous way.
  • Experience using Adobe and Excel (basic) and working with databases.
