This role will be central to building on our strong foundations and driving local area collaboration, ensuring that social care services for children and young people with SEND are high-quality, inclusive, and effective.
How You’ll Be Involved
As the Designated Social Care Officer (DSCO), you will ensure consistent and high-quality social care contributions to statutory SEND functions. You’ll lead on strategic planning, work closely with partners, and oversee social care input for Education, Health, and Care (EHC) needs assessments and reviews. The role involves representing social care in tribunal hearings, delivering SEND-related training, and improving pathways for children and young people. This position also includes monitoring service quality and ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice.
All About You
We are looking for a registered social worker with a deep understanding of SEND legislation and experience in children’s and young adults’ services. Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential, as is a track record of working with families, carers, and professionals to improve outcomes for children and young people. You’ll also be able to identify service gaps and develop solutions to enhance SEND provision.
