Library and Outreach Officer
Brent Libraries deliver customer focussed culture, learning and information services in one of the most diverse boroughs in London. All of our libraries have self-service technology, a wide-ranging book stock, regular reading and learning activities and a year round programme of tailored events. We also offer e-books, e-audio and online resources available 24/7.
We also offer Home library and outreach service for who find it hard to get to the library due to mobility difficulties or any other reasons.
We are looking for a Library Outreach Officer to manage the day to day running of one of our libraries. We need someone who can lead a team and help us provide excellent service to our library users. The post will be hands on, working with the public and supervising a team of Library and Outreach assistants and Library Support Workers to deliver access to books, information, learning, events, and support outreach activities at community settings.
As well as ensuring the efficient running of the library your role will include planning for the future and working on strategy for the continual improvement of our library offer, embracing library innovations and reaching new users as the post-holder will play a key role in delivering a locality-based outreach programme to promote the library beyond the current user groups

The Person
This post would suit a candidate with strong leadership skills and the ability to manage and motive staff. Good organisation, digital and administrative skills are also a must.
There is a customer facing element to the role so the candidate should enjoy working with the public and have experience of providing excellent customer service.
Most important is an enthusiasm for libraries and a commitment to ensuring Brent Libraries excels in providing the local community with all the benefits that libraries have to offer.
You will be responsible for the operational day-to-day management of and development of a range of libraries within a geographical location, managing staff and resources, building partnerships, and developing strong relationships with the community to understand local needs and strengths.
The post-holder will be based at one of the six libraries, but the successful candidate will need to be able and prepared to work at any library in the borough.
