Tower Hamlets Council’s Communications and Marketing Service is seeking to appoint two part time Media and Engagement Officers to specialise in connecting with our diverse communities.

Our award-winning Communications and Marketing service is at the heart of the council in the Chief Executive’s Office. We want exceptional people who can help us to tell our story and work with residents to improve lives in the UK’s most exciting borough.

Tower Hamlets offers the best of London in one borough. We are an incredibly diverse place, rich in history, opportunity and culture with the largest Bangladeshi population in the country. We are looking for media and engagement specialists who can help us to communicate with our diverse population through digital media and face to face engagement.

We are looking for candidates with experience of script writing, editing and promotion of digital media in a news environment. You will be able to provide voiceovers and translations in Bengali and understand video news editing and supervising. You will also be able to create digital content for the council’s social channels and newsletters. Candidates should be fluent in standard Bengali and understand Sylheti. You will be expected to engage with residents and organisations and should have good contacts and networks to pull upon.

We are looking for candidates with significant experience in writing and editing in news media. You must be able to research, edit and organise translations for external news sources. You will have experience working in or with BAME media, along with an understanding of engagement and consultation within our diverse communities. Successful candidates will have good contacts and networks to pull upon.

You will need to be fluent in standard Bengali and understand Sylheti and also be able to create digital content for the council’s social channels and newsletters
