NEWHAM SAFEGUARDING CHILDREN PARTNERSHIP

JOIN US AND HELP BUILD A FAIRER NEWHAM

We’re a vibrant, dynamic, culturally rich London Borough with a young population and limitless potential. We’re a challenging yet rewarding place to support children and families and we are steadfastly committed to our workforce being representative of the families that we work with. We are taking coordinated, meaningful and focused action to develop an inclusive culture because we believe this is at the heart of enabling diversity in all respects, including diversity of thought. We are taking positive actions to challenge all forms of discrimination and injustice to help make Newham a fairer and more equitable place for children and families to live, learn and thrive. The Newham Safeguarding Children Partnership is vital to these aims.

The NSCP is made up of an Executive partnership two with sub-committees; Performance and Quality and Assurance; & Safeguarding Children Practice Review Group. A Safeguarding Education Reference Group has recently been established. There is a joint group of adults and children’s safeguarding leads looking at all age exploitation across all services and under this group is a task & finish group focused on Modern Day Slavery.

You can find out more about the Partnership here:

ABOUT THE JOB

The role of independent scrutiny is to provide assurance, through monitoring and challenge, in judging the effectiveness and quality of multi-agency arrangements to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children in a local area.

The Independent Scrutineer will be required to work approximately 20 days per year for an initial 3-year term – this work will include:

  • Attending participating in Performance and Quality Assurance sub group meetings.
  • Reviewing the quality of Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews, ensuring that purposeful recommendations arise from such reviews and that agencies are held to account for the implementation of these recommendations until such time as they are fully completed.
  • To review the Newham Safeguarding Children Partnership’s Annual Report and plan.
  • To provide challenge and assurance in the development of the Newham Safeguarding Children Partnership (NSCP) and to aid in dispute resolution within the NSCP.
  • To ensure that the voice of the child is at the heart of all aspects of scrutiny and that our commitment to challenge discrimination and disproportionality is at the forefront of work and decisions.

We politely ask that all applicants carefully read the ROLE PROFILE in full before applying.
