About The Role
Working with a variety of stakeholders, you will transform services and deliver positive outcomes for Newham’s Autistic residents and those with Learning Disabilities.
You will be responsible for:
- representing the Council in respect of Autism and Learning Disabilities in all aspects of health, social care and wellbeing, ensuring that national and local priorities are reflected in commissioning decisions;
- overseeing the refresh and delivery of the Adults Learning Disability Action Plan;
- overseeing the delivery of the Newham Autism Strategy;
- leading on the transformation of Supported Accommodation for Autistic residents and those with Learning Disabilities;
- taking a proactive role in transitions - supporting our residents and Operational Teams to put in place appropriate and timely arrangements for those transitioning from child to adulthood through the commissioning of local, high quality, value-for-money services that foster resident independence, connection, sense of purpose and ambition.
About You
You will have:
- in-depth knowledge and experience of working with Autistic people and those with Learning Disabilities;
- experience in all aspects of the commissioning cycle and be able to critically appraise service delivery to develop innovative solutions;
- experience of writing and presenting detailed and well-reasoned reports and business cases to senior management boards;
- a track record of delivering resident outcomes through directly managing staff, budgets and services;
- the ability to develop long-term relationships, creating networks external to the Council, including at a regional level – and with local Providers and residents;
- strong organisational / ’political’ awareness and record of successfully delivering and influencing organisational change.
