Who we are

Are you interested in bringing your performance management skills, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills to an organisation that plays a vital role in the democratic process?

The Electoral Commission is the independent body that regulates party and election finance, sets standards for well-run elections and encourages people to register to vote.

The Role

We are looking for a business partner to liaise with different departments to ensure the right performance information is developed, analysed and reported. You will be involved in the production of quarterly performance reports to the Commission Board and monthly management reports to the Executive Team. With knowledge of project management, you will also support project managers and provide advice on subject related matters.

You will be monitoring business-as-usual work in the organisation; supporting the development of operational plans including the identification of team activities and associated risks and supporting the Strategic Planning and Performance Manager in annual business planning and the development of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

With your knowledge in risk management, you will provide advice and ensure best practice in the identification and monitoring of risk, ensuring that emergent risks are managed and escalated appropriately within the risk management framework.

You will  have significant opportunity to shape the Commission’s approach to risk/performance/benefits management, and play an important role in the development of our benefits management strategy. Our practice around the profiling, mapping and tracking benefits (or impact) is currently undergoing substantial refresh.

Experience Required

Ideally, the candidate will be educated to degree level or with comparable experience. You will have experience of performance monitoring and reporting and of developing and supporting the delivery of operational plans and impact measures (KPIs). You will have experience of working with project and programme managers, and managing projects. You will be used to working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to tight deadlines. You will have excellent written communication skills and a good understanding of business planning.

It's a job full of possibilities as you will work with staff across the Commission promoting continuous improvement, and ensuring actions are completed and targets are met. We'll look to you to build great relationships. All you need to do is think bigger, better and brighter. And with an attitude like that, anything's possible.

Working at the Electoral Commission

The Electoral Commission offers excellent terms and conditions, including flexible working hours, and the opportunity to join the Civil Service pension arrangements (dependent on scheme rules) which include a valuable range of benefits.

We want to attract the broadest range of talented people who are passionate about democracy. The more diverse our workforce, the better we can adapt to and reflect the needs of society. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and as a staff member, you will become part of an inclusive culture, where you will have the opportunity to achieve your full potential and enhance your career through learning and development.
