What You’ll Be Doing
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Area Regeneration Team at Camden. The team is at the forefront of delivering the We Make Camden vision and objectives, working together with our residents, businesses and partners to make a difference for the people of Camden.
Area Regeneration is a strategic, place-based and delivery focused team, leading a wide variety of area-based regeneration programmes and projects in Camden’s neighbourhoods. Examples include high streets projects, such as working towards a pedestrianisation trial and cultural placemaking programme for Camden High Street. The team leads the Regeneration Delivery Strategy for the Kentish Town Regis Road Growth Area- working with landowners, stakeholders and local residents to unlock the creation of a new sustainable neighbourhood of up to 1,000 new homes, jobs, open spaces, community facilities and connections. The ‘One Kilburn’ is a community partnership (Community Improvement District Pilot), building relationships and networks at a grassroots level and enabling communities to influence and play an active role in the future of their neighbourhood. The team play a key role in securing funding and developing funding bids, including successfully securing £7.7m of Levelling Up Funding for a Healthy and Connected Neighbourhood in Gospel Oak including the co-creation and activation of a vacant building into a community hub.
The Senior Regeneration Officer plays an important role in the team, supporting the development and implementation of place-based regeneration projects that address local issues and achieve strategic outcomes. Possessing a critical approach and an understanding of the complexity of the urban environment is crucial. Equally, engagement and participation are a key part of the role, which involves working with multiple local stakeholders and partnership building, including working with local residents, community organisations, local businesses, Business Improvement Districts, landowners, institutions and public bodies such as the GLA, TfL and central Government, alongside working with elected members.
The role requires building an understanding of Camden’s communities and places, a strategic approach and practical application to deliver projects on the ground that achieve positive outcomes for the borough’s communities.
You will be responsible for managing and supporting on projects, enabling them to be delivered on time, budget and to a high standard, as well as supporting the identification of and securing funding. The post holder will prepare reports, both verbal and written to audiences including elected members, public forums and formal decision-making boards/ committees. The role also includes the preparation of public communications and consultation materials.
All About You
We are looking for a pro-active, Senior Regeneration Officers to join our dynamic team and play a leading role in the area regeneration of Camden.
You must be a self-starter, with the ability to work flexibly and at pace, with excellent team working, collaboration and partnership building skills. You must comfortable working with complexity, across a diverse range of disciplines and stakeholders to creatively problem solve and deliver projects on the ground. You must be able to manage projects to meet demanding deadlines, lead others and galvanise support. You will be an engaging communicator and able to report to senior officers, boards and members, in both written and verbal form.
You will be commercially aware with a background in regeneration, built environment, development, economic growth or related fields. Knowledge and experience of the regeneration process and how to apply it to achieve high quality placemaking and deliver benefits for residents, communities and businesses is vital. You will have experience scoping, project managing, reporting and delivering placemaking projects in an urban regeneration context and will have excellent teamwork, collaboration and partnership building skills.
