Assistant Educational Psychologist
Full time, fixed term; 2 years.
Redbridge is an ambitious, diverse and exciting east-London borough. What we do is driven by changing our relationship with local people to support our vision. As a result, we've developed innovative ways to build our communities and transform our Council.
We're one of the fastest growing parts of the country and the third most diverse London borough. Our communities are attracted by a mixture of excellent schools, relatively affordable housing, high-quality open space and rapid transport connections into the heart of the City.
Redbridge Educational Psychology Service (EPS) is looking to recruit talented and enthusiastic Assistant Educational Psychologists (AEPs) to work in our dynamic and supportive team. We are a consultation service who promote evidence-based models with a relational approach. We are a well-established team of Educational Psychologists (EPs) who are committed to achieving positive outcomes for children and young people in diverse and often challenging situations.
All of our AEPs work across both the EPS as well as in our specialist team, Redbridge Educational Wellbeing Team (REWT), which supports emotional wellbeing and mental health across the Local Authority. The REWT team also hosts a Mental Health Support Team (MHST) and we all work closely together as sub teams within the EPS.
Redbridge EPS, REWT and MHST are highly regarded and valued by our schools and services across the borough. EPs are seen as integral to supporting vulnerable children, multi-agency working, and school development. In addition, the REWT team have won Redbridge’s 2023 Team Innovator Award.
We would like to recruit two AEPs and there will be opportunity to work on established projects within the REWT team, EPS and MHST.
Successful applicants will benefit from the support of a friendly, well-established team who meet regularly to share practice and enable whole team development. Applicants will receive an induction programme tailored to their needs, supportive peer and individual supervision, and an annual EPS/REWT CPD programme.
In the second year of this post, there is opportunity for progression to a senior AEP role, which includes opportunities to lead projects, be involved in action research and to have areas of responsibility, as well as dedicated support for applying for the doctorate EP training course.
Redbridge is situated in the North East of London offering the advantages of rapid transport to Central London and easy access to the M11. Our office is based in a newly built Children’s Resource Centre in a scenic location, west of the borough. This is close to a Central Line tube station. We are a well-resourced EPS and EPs and AEPs in Redbridge have the use of laptops with internet connection when out of the office.
The team promotes working in a range of different ways to apply psychology through consultation, assessment, evidence-based intervention, systemic work and training. The EPS has recently relaunched with New Ways of Working which has grounded EPs in systemic and community-based work within schools.
In Redbridge we believe that we are fast paced service that responds directly to our local needs. We embed culturally responsive ways of working into our practice and we have all collaborated on a number of creative and innovative projects and continue to adapt our ways of working.
Proposed Interview date: Friday 4th October 2024
Please note interviews will take place face to face in a Redbridge location.
