Private Sector Housing and Adaptations Manager
The role
Here at Southwark Council, we’ve developed an ambitious strategy for housing renewal. Playing a key role in realising our vision, you will make a difference to the lives of residents across the Borough.
Taking the lead on strategic and operational initiatives, you will be instrumental in improving our approach to housing adaptions across both council and private sector housing services. It’s about transforming services and processes - put simply, you’ll re-shape the way we get things done.
We will look to you to manage the full range of activity involved in bringing both empty privately owned homes and empty commercial properties back into use. Providing a case management service to private and council owned properties, you’ll ensure that residents who are vulnerable, and those with disabilities, are able not just to stay in their homes, but to thrive there.
Under your direction, repair and adaption services will be about more than bricks and mortar - you, and the skilled team you lead and develop, will have a real part to play in mending lives.
The role includes:
- Being the lead officer responsible for the implementation of the council’s empty homes initiatives within the private sector, including developing and promoting the services of the team both internally and externally.
- Being responsible for the adaptations service to both private and council owned properties, including the promotion and managing of the councils Home Improvement Agency, delivering a borough wide service to elderly and disabled homeowners and private tenants who want to repair or adapt their homes.
- Being responsible for the handyperson and the minor repairs scheme across the borough.
- Managing relevant stage one complaints and members enquires relating to the service areas, as directed by the Repairs Contract Manager-Specialist Services.
