About the role:
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic applicant to work as a Councillor Development Officer and Senior Cabinet Support Assistant to Cabinet. The ideal candidate will be a quick-thinker, a willing team member and able to adapt to changing priorities on a daily basis. They should be able to work with the utmost discretion and with a good awareness of political sensitivities.
In this role you will be experienced in providing high quality personal and project support in a political environment, whilst producing a comprehensive programme to support elected members fulfil their roles as advocates for their residents.
This is a fast-paced role working across all council services and activities, in a dynamic and influential team. You will be integral to the support provided to all councillors.
Daily tasks will include providing business support to Cabinet Members, overseeing the work of the Cabinet Support Assistants team and managing the Community Ward Funding process. This is a unique role, putting you at the centre of the organisation providing endless opportunity to learn, grow and make a difference to councillors and ultimately the residents within the Borough.

Key Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Inbox management ensuring emails are responded to daily as appropriate
- Managing demanding diaries
- Management of emails, letters and phone calls - responding to or delegating as necessary on the cabinet members behalf
- Secretariat of Team and Board meetings
- Organising internal/external events and meetings as requested
- Liaising with colleagues across directorates to ensure delivery of Management Boards key projects
- Managing the Community Ward Funding process
Previous assistant experience is not essential but the ability to work in a fast paced environment is desirable.
Qualifications and Requirements:
To be considered for this position, you should meet the following requirements:
- Numeracy and literacy qualification e.g. GCSE English and Maths or equivalent.
- Relevant professional qualifications are encouraged but not essential.
