About the role:

We are looking for a dynamic, passionate and committed leasehold expert to lead our Home Ownership team. You will be joining a fully resourced service, comprising of two managers and 11 officers.

The Home Ownership team has undertaken a number of improvements over the last couple of years, including recruiting additional staff members, improved collection rates and new processes to support new build shared ownership and leasehold homes.

We're looking for someone to help us continue this journey, with a particular focus on:
  • Annual service charge calculation
  • Major works invoicing and compliance
  • Leasehold engagement
  • Income maximisation
We're looking for someone experienced from the leasehold sector who also understands the intricacies of working in local government. The Council is an ambitious house builder and stock figures are rising annually. You'll be someone with a passion for delivering high quality and value for money services, able to work effectively with colleagues and partners from a range of different services and backgrounds, along with understanding the risks and opportunities of legislative changes impacting leasehold management.

Our office is based at Cedar Wood House, E17 4GG. Flexible working is available with most colleagues working 1-2 days in the office per week. You may be required to attend an occasional evening meeting. The starting salary is currently £56,172.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the Home Ownership team, covering all leasehold functions
  • Ensure accurate and justifiable service charges are issued as required to leaseholders and shared owners
  • Manage an effective Right to Buy process
  • Maximise income collection
  • Ensure shared ownership rents are calculated invoiced annually
  • Improve and streamline internal processes and ways of working
  • Lead on leasehold engagement and advocate for leaseholders
  • Work with colleagues on the provision of new build leasehold and shared ownership homes

Qualifications and Requirements:

To be considered for this position, you should meet the following requirements:

Ideally educated to degree standard or equivalent.

Experience working in the leasehold sector, ideally in local government.

Ideally have knowledge of NEC Housing, along with competent experience using MS Excel and Office package.

Some evening meetings may be required.
