What You’ll Be Doing
Embark on a career-enhancing opportunity in private sector housing improvement with our Private Sector Housing Service. As a sponsored trainee, you'll complete Middlesex University's Private Rented Sector Qualification while gaining practical experience alongside experienced Environmental Health Officers. Your role will involve investigating complaints, implementing licensing schemes, and applying enforcement tools to improve standards in Camden's private rented sector. Develop your skills and knowledge in areas like HMO licensing, improvement notices, Final Management Orders, and Banning Orders to make a real impact in improving living conditions for residents.

We're seeking a motivated and organized individual with a passion for improving living standards to join our team. As an PRS Trainee, you'll be responsible for ensuring the private rented sector meets high standards of health and safety. If you're a detail-oriented problem-solver with excellent communication skills, we'd love to hear from you.
You'll be able to work independently, manage your workload effectively, and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines. Your ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners will be essential in driving innovation and success. You'll also be comfortable leading projects and achieving successful outcomes as part of a team.
In addition, you'll be able to handle sensitive information and data securely, maintain accurate records, and remain aware of politically sensitive issues. If you're a driven and customer-focused individual with a passion for improving living standards, we'd love to hear from you!
You will need to meet the entry requirements of the Diploma in Private Sector Housing Interventions at the University of Middlesex
• Evidence that have capacity to work at level 4+ for example: 5 GCSEs (Grade C or above) or 5 GCEs (Grade C or above) including: English Language, Mathematics,
PLUS one of the following:
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a relevant local authority service. Mature Students will be interviewed by the team to discuss suitability for study at level 4
OR
• Two A-Levels with a minimum of 112 UCAS Tariff points (can be flexible if applicant over 21) with least one A level in a science or technology subject drawn from Chemistry, Biology, Human Biology, Physics, Geography, Geology, Environmental Science, Nutrition, Food Science or similar
OR
• A BTEC National Diploma or Certificate in an appropriate area (e.g. Housing, surveying, regulatory practice) normally with a minimum of 3 merits
OR
• Applicants who have successfully completed a relevant ACCESS course with an overall merit
OR
• Applicants who have successfully completed an appropriate Advanced GNVQ with at least 3 level III passes at merit standard.
OR
• Applicants who have successfully passed an appropriate HE Foundation programme.
