About the Job

We are looking for an experienced Senior Contracts and Procurement Lawyer to join our Contracts and Procurement Legal Team. We can offer a range of engaging work covering commercial matters from contracts, procurement, concessions, grants, companies, pensions, inter-authority arrangements, out/insourcing; to name but a few, in a dynamic business environment.  Our Councils are delivering some of the largest estate regeneration, affordable housing and construction programmes in London and this is the best time to be part of some really exciting projects.

About You

You will be a qualified lawyer with a good understanding of the workings of local government including its financial, legal and political context.  You will provide legal expertise in Contract and Procurement Law; contributing to the delivery of high quality, solution focused legal work, to clients in both Newham and Havering including a range of council owned companies.

You will have experience in people management, including motivation performance and capability. You will have the ability to contribute towards setting the strategic direction of Legal Services and support the Senior Management Team in developing and implementing strategies and business plans for the Legal Service.

On a day to day basis you will use your legal knowledge of local government powers and duties in company, contract and procurement related areas to provide quality and timely legal advice to clients both within Havering and Newham.  In addition you will possess commercial awareness and understanding of client needs alongside excellent client care skills.
