The role
We are recruiting for one Post 16 Education, Employment and Training (EET) Officer this is a six-month secondment opportunity. Join our small team, supporting us to collate and track information on the education, employment or training destinations for 16- and 18-year-olds in-year 12 and 13. Provide careers advice, information and guidance for NEET young people to empower them to achieve a sustainable EET destination.
Your role would help to safeguard young people through destination tracking and minimising the number of children aged 16 and 17 in-year 12 and 13 whose activity is not known by liaising with internal and external departments and undertake database cross-referencing to obtain quality assured data, in addition to home visits and other channels to track and trace the participation of 16 to 18 year olds in-year 12 and 13. Any successful candidate would need to be dedicated to Southwark’s Fairer Future Values while working within the Southwark Post 16 Service.
About You:
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, highly motivated, committed, good communicator, and confident in managing client interventions and data accuracy to strict deadlines. An experienced careers advice and guidance officer at level four, or above with experience of client interventions, progression tracking, and case management reporting. You will have an understanding of the legislation and challenges relating to empowering young people to overcome barriers to achieve their participation in education, employment with training. Be a good team player and support the team’s work, professionally managing the flow of large volumes of data, providing intervention support by phone or email, and conducting the home visit door knocking exercise in pairs to identify the not known cohort.
About the Team:
The Post 16 Service sits within the Education, Children and Adult Services. We lead on the local authority’s duty to ‘Raise the Participation Age’ (RPA) and report the ‘Education, Employment and Training’ (EET) participation activity for a cohort of approximately 6000 young people in-year 12 and 13 each academic year for the ‘Department for Education’ (DfE) to strict deadlines.
We put in place meaningful interventions at the earliest opportunity to reduce the number of young people ‘Not in Education, Employment and Training’ (NEET). We aim to ensure that all young people in-year 12 and 13 have a recorded EET destination, and collectively prepare them for the next stage in their journey toward career independence.
