About Us
The Havering Public Health Service has been successful in bidding for funding from the GLA School Superzones programme. We are now recruiting an officer to lead a 6-month project focusing on the school journey – working with pupils, parents and local businesses to improve the food environment and encourage active travel.

The Public Health Service is responsible for the commissioning and delivery of a range of services, providing high level strategic support to internal and external stakeholders and advocating for primary prevention and health in all policies. About the Job
Our Public Health Practitioners are responsible for building public health capacity across the borough by developing relationships with stakeholders, including healthcare providers, businesses and community groups.
Applying your knowledge of public health practice and community engagement, you will collaborate with stakeholders to create healthy places that promote and improve the health of people in Havering.
In this role, you will deliver the Healthier Catering Commitment, develop a Good Food Retail project, and promote active travel – working with the school community, local businesses and other stakeholders within the School Superzone area. You will support the development and evaluation of these projects, in order to monitor their impact and inform continued development and sustainability as part of the GLA School Superzones programme and the Havering Healthy Weight Strategy 2024-29.
About You
With a passion for improving population health and wellbeing, you will be enthusiastic about engaging and working with stakeholders to create healthier places. You will be an excellent communicator who is confident in advocating for everyone playing their part – across private, public and voluntary sectors – in making healthy choices easier.
You will be a graduate in Public Health, or be able to evidence equivalent experience, with sound knowledge of public health policy and practice.
You will be supported to work towards UKPHR Public Health Practitioner registration, if you have not already registered.
