About the role:

Waltham Forest Highways & Traffic Management is responsible for about 420km of roads, 900km of footpaths, 30km segregated cycle tracks and require an experienced Highways supervisor to manage the day to day inspections and maintenance of the infrastructure using a risk based inspection procedure.

The post holder will be required to carry out walked inspections of the public highway and its infrastructure, order appropriate repairs, manage assigned budgets, investigate accident claims, monitor the contractor's performance and take action to ensure that the relevant codes of practice are followed and that the safe operation of the network is maintained.

The ideal candidates will have in depth knowledge of both Highway Maintenance and Streetworks practices.

IT skills should include the ability to use Microsoft Office packages and experience in the use of Symology street works management system will be useful.

The successful candidate will join a busy team within our Highways Department and you should therefore have good time management and organisational skills and be prepared to meet strict deadlines. Out of hours working will be undertaken as required as will participation in a rota for the out-of-hours emergency call-out system. A full driving licence and daily use of a vehicle will be required.

Key Responsibilities:

To undertake inspections of the public highway and highway infrastructure, ordering repairs and maintenance as appropriate, to ensure that risks are removed or reduced for all users.

To provide support and specialist knowledge to the service area

Qualifications and Requirements:

NRSWA registration

Numeracy and literacy qualification e.g. GCSE English and Maths or equivalent

Relevant vocational qualification or experience in subject or area

Lantra highway safety inspection
