About the Role

The role is paramount to the delivery of the Council’s strategic corporate priorities.  Working for us you will have the opportunity to make a real difference for our residents, securing that the area benefits from strong planning enforcement and help the team delivery its vision, to ensure that all planning regulations are followed.

The Council is seeking to tackle enforcement in an efficient and effective manner with the planning enforcement team making a positive difference to the Borough. We have a permanent vacancy for a Lead Principal Planning Enforcement Officer.  The job will require the postholder to provide leadership and management to a professional enforcement team to achieve high performance and effective operational delivery, which will include line managing staff. To provide high level professional advice relating to all planning enforcement matters (legislation and policy) and to advise the Council’s Executive and Council Committees as necessary.  To manage, support and coordinate planning enforcement cases throughout the enforcement process, including legal interviews and preparing for and attending court procedures and doing site visits as needed. Ensuring the planning enforcement team meets their targets as set out in performance indicators. Ensuring that the staff are fully up to date on current legislation and professional practice in relation to planning enforcement and ensure they have the skills and knowledge to undertake their work.
