Hours:  31.25 hours per week, 8.30am to 3.30pm with a 45 minute lunch lunch break x 39 weeks per year

Grade:  APTC Scale 2, Point 4 

Actual Salary:  £19,882 p.a. (FTE £26,634 p.a.) 

Contract:  Permanent

Scargill Junior School is looking to appoint a committed and experienced Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and vibrant school. 

You will join a strong, positive and supportive team of staff within an Academy that is committed to providing a positive, safe and stimulating learning environment for our pupils and staff.  Scargill Junior School is part of Hornchurch Academy Trust and offers excellent opportunities for training, support, career development and sharing best practice amongst its five schools. 

Your role will be to will carry out the role of supporting teaching and learning within the classroom. The position will also include setting up and resourcing the work for individual SEN children/small groups.

We are seeking an experienced teaching assistant with experience in supporting children both within the classroom and in intervention groups. You will need a good standard of Literacy and Numeracy and previous SEND experience including 1 to 1 support would be desirable.  Positivity and confidence in using your knowledge of current theory and practice in teaching and learning, and SEND would be advantageous

Candidates must:

  • Be ready to utilise the benefits of a curriculum that is innovative and flexible in terms of delivery and content
  • Be able to share best practice and be flexible and compassionate
  • Develop positive relationships with pupils and able to use a variety of strategies to meet individual needs
  • Be enthusiastic, confident and able to use their initiative
  • Be patient, empathetic and resilient
  • Play a full part in the life of the school and be committed to working in partnership with staff and parents
