Telling Brent’s story and improving lives

Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The council is pursuing a far-reaching strategic change programme to ensure the council is equipped to meet the needs of our community, so it is an exciting time to join us.

The Post

Are you bursting with ideas for unforgettable multimedia marketing campaigns? Do you thrive in a dynamic environment, working closely with colleagues to enhance communications efficiency and success? If so, we have an exciting opportunity just for you!

Step into the role of Communications Officer and become a pivotal force in crafting imaginative publicity campaigns, edgy content, and propelling the Corporate Communications Strategy forward. In Brent, the Borough of Cultures, we're on a mission to share our remarkable story and need a gifted Communications Officer to help amplify our voice.

As the go-to marketing lead for your designated portfolio, you'll deploy key messages across a mix of channels to support organisational objectives. You’ll be the Editor of the council’s resident e-newsletter, reaching 16k subscribers, and the curator of Brent’s arts and culture What’s On guide. Plus, you'll craft compelling features for the Your Brent magazine, promote the work of the Mayor of Brent and will play a key role in supporting the wider communications team.

This is a rare opportunity to join an award-winning team at the top of its game.

The Person

We are looking for someone who is curious with a flair for doing things differently. To be successful in this role, you will have experience of delivering results in a fast-paced media or marketing communications environment with a proven track record of building relationships with, and gaining the trust of, colleagues, managers and councillors.

You thrive on developing and delivering creative marketing ideas, based on hard evidence, which help improve local people’s lives.

You will be experienced in creating great communications using a mixture of traditional and digital communication methods – including social media and short videos.

If you are keen to work at the heart of an ambitious and forward-looking council, making a positive difference every day, Brent’s communications team could be the place for you.
