About the role:

The role will work across Early Help purpose of this for families and adults, to develop and operationally manage a team of community support volunteers and partner organisations to lead on a range of practical sessions within the five Family and Welcome Hubs and beyond. The postholder will liaise with key-stakeholders to develop practical support workshops, as well as 1-1 support for residents with a range of low-level needs, that could improve outcomes such as: financial hardship, social isolation, parenting support, emotional and physical health to improve life chances.

The postholder will negotiate and agree the schedule of activities within each centre and implement the sessions; develop the role profiles for the volunteer roles and liaise with the council's volunteer hub within Connecting Communities, to recruit volunteers; provide an extensive induction and ongoing training to ensure volunteer staff feel confident in their roles and oversee the delivery of the volunteer sessions. The role will also oversee and co-ordinate the day to day running and supervision of the volunteers and support volunteers who've dedicated their time and commitment over a length of time, to explore progression routes into paid work.

Also, to develop tools for recording and measuring service reach and impact and be able to report on the delivery of the Early Help work to investors and funders and ensure the service provides quality, value for money and the safeguarding of vulnerable families and adults at all times. The postholder will be responsible for ensuring the service complies with relevant legislation, regulations, and policies.

Key Responsibilities:

Qualifications and Requirements:

To be considered for this position, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Experience of recruiting and retaining volunteers.
  • Experience of supervising volunteers and or staff
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Knowledge and experience of the legislation and best practice applicable to working with volunteers.
  • Experience and knowledge of the local community and the needs within that community.
  • Knowledge and experience of community support and or Early Hel
  • Be able to monitor and build insight into the needs of our residents and be able to respond flexibility to adapt and change services in response
