About the role:

Our award-winning School Catering Service is looking for enthusiastic Catering Assistants to join one of our many catering teams in school kitchens across Waltham Forest and Haringey.

To apply for this role you must have:
  • Previous experience working in a busy catering environment and be able to work as part of a team.
  • Be able and willing to follow instructions from the Cook Supervisor.
  • Be able to assist with the preparation of our fresh food, serving children and adults, washing up, cleaning all areas of the kitchen and school dining room.
  • Be able to work in a physically demanding and fast paced environment.
  • A good understanding of food Allergens and food service.
  • A good level of spoken English to be able to communicate well with customers of all ages.
  • Enjoy working around children.
  • Good customer Care
  • Be prepared to travel around the borough when required to work in different school kitchens.

Key Responsibilities:

OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. To prepare the dining area for the service of food and/or beverages.

2. To serve food and/or beverages in a pleasant and professional manner .

3. To clear away and wash up after meal service.

4. To clear floors, furniture and equipment in the kitchen, servery, dining

5. To carry out basic cooking and food preparation duties as instructed

6. To be cost-conscious and economical at all times

7. To convey equipment necessary for the consumption of food and/or beverages from the kitchen to the service area and back having due regard for the health and Safety of all.

8. To operate kitchen equipment as required after satisfactory training and to do so, possibly unsupervised, when needed.

9. To carry out all cleaning duties as required on a rota basis

Qualifications and Requirements:

Previous Catering Experience Essential

Be prepared to work anywhere within the Borough of Waltham Forest (Chingford, Walthamstow, Leyton or Leytonstone)
