About the role:

We are currently looking for a Rent and Service Charge Accountant who will ensure the delivery of an efficient and effective rent and service charge financial function for the Housing Service by joining the Housing Finance Team based within the Finance and Governance Directorate.

As a Rent and Service Charge Accountant you will be providing high-level expert, professional, technical, and financial advice to senior officers to ensure that the Council's financial resources in Housing are managed effectively.

Our ideal candidate will have excellent technical, communication and ICT skills with the ability to interpret and explain complex legislation and guidance, to a variety of audiences, and to make clear, consistent decisions. In addition, the Rent and Service Charge Accountant will have the ability to manage and oversee systems and process changes, have extensive knowledge of leases, tenancies, and legislation in relation to service charge and rents. Work under pressure; to manage and prioritise a high caseload and to adhere to tight deadlines.

Due to the nature of this post, a basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsible for an effective housing rent and service charge financial function

Support and partner with the housing Service

Contribute to the formulation of the councils financial policies and strategies

Qualifications and Requirements:

Qualified AAT level 4 or equivalent

Comprehensive knowledge of rent and service charge accounting

Comprehensive knowledge of accounting concepts

Experience of using NEC Housing
