About the Role
Not many places offer the whole package – we can. Newham is an exciting place to be and to be build your career. You will be working within the Digital Service at Newham and your role will oversee all aspects of service delivery in relation to Digital Service Design Projects.
You will be empowered to lead on all internal capability and external partnerships for the Council to design effective improvements to its digital services, as well as, lead and matrix manage digital service design project teams and external supplier teams (developers).
The position will bring together exciting elements of services across the organisation to re-imagine how our services can be delivered and designed using modern innovative tools and platforms. Working in partnership across services within the council to design and deliver the end to end digital offer to residents, this role will be the leading expert we look to for subject matter expertise when re-designing our digital offer to residents.
About You
This role leads the Council’s digital service design projects and is the delivery lead for the elements in regards improving access to services, within the digital transformation programme. This workstream is cross cutting in nature and the post holder will be expected to work with members, and senior leadership teams accordingly.
You will be expected to lead and influence others in the Council across a multi-disciplinary delivery team. This could involve providing direction to teams in our outsourced contracts or other Council services.
The Digital Service Design Manager will lead in enabling our vision to drive a resident centric culture across the authority, re-design of our services to digitalise business functions and to support vulnerable residents across services, building a robust support and service network.
This will require you to work collaboratively across the Council, with our partners and voluntary and community sector to influence decision making and support delivery across a range of workstreams championing a resident centric approach driven by insight and community participation to ensure all voices are heard.
A passion for designing and improving services, a customer centric mindset and user focused leadership to enable teams to co-produce solutions that work for and add benefit to the people using them.
Experience of overseeing or managing the end to end service design process, project delivery and a service design background or knowledge of methodologies that enable human centred design.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills, including the ability to present persuasively to colleagues, partners, and other senior stakeholders.
Strong and proven understanding of digital technologies and how these can provide tangible benefits to residents and communities.
Leadership and interpersonal skills including mentoring, coaching, collaborating, and motivating teams
