School Keeper
Hours: 35 hours per week, 7 hours per day - with a 1 hour unpaid lunch break. 6am to 2pm or 10am to 6pm to be agreed with the Site Manager/Headteacher
Contract: Permanent. Full time: working all year round including school holidays with an annual holiday entitlement of 25 days plus all public Bank Holidays and 1 extra statutory day. Holiday leave to be agreed with the Headteacher - leave could be either term time or school holiday time.
Grade: Grade 3 Spinal Point 5 - 9
Pro Rata Salary: £26,279 - £27,901 p.a. (FTE £27,030 - £28,698 p.a.)

Newtons Primary School is part of The Growing Together Federation. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, efficient, friendly and reliable School Keeper to join our team at Newtons Primary School and work alongside our Site Manager.
This is an all year round post that includes working during the school holidays and may include some unsociable hours to cover parent’s evenings and occasional school events.
The main responsibilities of the School Keeper include:
- Health & Safety - ensuring that the school complies with all relevant H&S regulations and advising of any contraventions.
- Basic internal and external maintenance and repairs including decorating
- Being a keyholder and maintaining site safety and security in accordance with school policies and procedures
- To provide cleaning/mop up duties (including bodily fluids) during the school day and attend to daily emergency repairs/breakages etc. Occasional site cleaning including cleaning at height
- To refill and replace relevant consumables across the entire site eg toilet tissue, hand towels, soap, paper supply to copiers etc. Ensure that toilets and washroom facilities are clean and fully equipped during the whole school day.
- Portering – to provide a porterage service around the school as required and assist with receipt, distribution, collection and dispatch of goods as directed.
- Gardening and external maintenance works
- Deal with site / premises based emergencies & hazards
