An excellent opportunity has arisen within the London Borough of Redbridge for an experienced and skilled Legal Officer to join the Council to assist the Legal Property Team with the Voluntary First Registration Project.
You will report to the Principal Lawyer – Property and Planning within the Legal Department. You will also work closely with other Council departmental clients and specialist departments.
You will provide the Council with excellent technical legal skills and relevant experience and can quickly pick things up and build excellent working relationships with colleagues and clients.
Responsibilities:
- Liaising with clients and land registry to establish numbers of unregistered plots of land within the borough and arrange for first registration of each.
- Review historic conveyances and deed packets in order to establish ownership.
- To liaise with the Land Registry and assist with all requisitions raised on each application.
- To report to the Principal Lawyer and client departments, providing them with regular updates on the progress of the project.
To be successful in this role you will need:
- Good general standard of education, preferably Degree level standard.
- Knowledge of residential conveyancing and property law and practice.
- Experience of working in a legal office environment.
- Experience of handling Local Authority legal matters.
