Redbridge is an ambitious, diverse and exciting east-London borough. What we do is driven by changing our relationship with local people to support our vision. As a result, we've developed innovative ways to build our communities and transform our Council.
We're one of the fastest growing parts of the country and the third most diverse London borough. Our communities are attracted by a mixture of excellent schools, relatively affordable housing, high-quality open space and rapid transport connections into the heart of the City.
We are looking to recruit an experienced Social Worker who is enthusiastic, motivated, and dynamic. The applicant will need to have a sound understanding of the legislation and guidance relating to Children’s Social Work and Fostering Regulations.
This role will require excellent assessment, observation, and analysis skills, which enable them to complete the role of a Practice Manager/Reviewing Officer in the Fostering Service.
As a Practice Manager/Reviewing Officer you will chair all household reviews for foster carers, provide a report of the meeting to be shared with participants of the suitability of foster carers, which will include recommendations and action points and ensure these are followed up by the Fostering Team. You will be key in ensuring the welfare and assessed needs of both children and foster carers within the Fostering Service are met, making sure they are managed in a safe and inclusive way.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate, and motivated manager to join our service. You will adopt a strength-based, child-centred approach to your work and be able to balance challenging demands whilst growing and developing in your practice.
You will work alongside experienced and supportive managers in the team, supervise a small number of social workers, facilitate information sessions and training for prospective foster carers and attend Placement Tracking Panel on behalf of the Fostering Team.
The role is challenging but rewarding. The ideal candidate should have the following attributes:
- Substantive experience of working with children, young people and their families.
- Excellent communication skills

- Able to contribute to the Skills to Foster Training and support the duty team.
- Able to demonstrate personal and professional autonomy in relation to practice.
- Able to work flexibly as part of a team.
- Able to chair all Household reviews for foster carers, provide a report of the meeting and recommended actions.
- To play an integral part in the implementation and development of a high standard of care to all children placed with Redbridge Foster Carers.
