About us

Camden is listening to everyone, including you.

We’re giving a platform to people inside and outside our community. Because, we’re not just home to the UK’s fast-growing economy. We’re home to the most important conversations happening today. And we’re making radical social change a reality, so that nobody gets left behind. Here’s where you can help decide a better future for us all

The role

We have an exciting opportunity for an AMHP, with at least two years’ experience, who would like to experience working at weekends/bank holiday undertaking Mental Health Act assessments that cannot wait until the next working day. You will be guaranteed one weekend day shift per month. Shifts are from 10am until 8pm with overtime paid if necessary.

You will be supported by an experienced EDT worker who will triage the Mental Health Act assessments before allocating them to you. On the rare occasions that there are no assessments, the EDT worker may ask for assistance in dealing with Adult Social Care referrals such as No Entries or agreeing to extra care package support.

For those who would like to consider EDT work as a career, this is the ideal opportunity to gain an insight into generic emergency social work.

Camden is a busy borough undertaking a high volume of Mental Health Act assessments. There is further opportunity to carry out Mental Health Act assessments during weekday evenings at a fixed rate. There is no obligation to accept these referrals. They are carried out on an ad-hoc basis when the EDT worker is unable to get to them in good time.

About you

To be considered for this exciting opportunity it is essential that the successful candidate is a qualified social worker registered with Social Work England who is an Approved Mental Health Professional, with sound knowledge of the Mental Health Act.

You will have previous demonstrable experience of managing a varied caseload. An Approved Mental Health Professional applicant will have had experience working with other client groups, or be able to demonstrate your potential and knowledge regarding those client groups outside of any current specialism. You will have role-appropriate knowledge of relevant legislation affecting out-of-hours social work practice including the Children Act, the Care Act, the Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty safeguards, the Human Rights Act, Police and Criminal Evidence Act and any other relevant legislation, and be able to work within legal and procedural requirements.

You will be able to demonstrate flexibility, and have the ability to prioritize under pressure, work speedily, and find imaginative solutions. You will be a good communicator and be able to write clear concise and accurate reports

Working for Camden

We’re ready to welcome your ideas, your views, and your rebellious spirit. Help us redefine how we’re supporting people, and we’ll redefine what a career can be.

If that sounds good to you, we’d love to talk.

At Camden, you’ll receive a host of benefits as well as joining a flexible working employer. Visit 'www.camdenjobs.co.uk/staff-benefits' to see full details of our benefits.
